Well their extreme snow and wind can literally build up around your motor and freeze it solid...When the motor is warm and it blows snow all around it if your facing into the wind, which in turn, temporarily turns it to water which then again freezes...well I didn't see that one coming since I do not live in such extremes but hey, now I now I'm not going there in the winter.. lol!!
I wonder if a grill cover would help in those conditions. I don't mind camping in the cold, but I avoid sub zero. Most of the winter camping we do is on coastline in the high 30's, but do venture to the ski resorts where it drops to single digits.
