Do you have any bad tire wear or other symptoms that they are worn out?
I've heard this on the innerweb for years about how bad they are. Mine were "out of spec" 70kmi ago. Now at 135kmi on the originals, it drives fine and tires wear great.
Don't believe the dealer unless you have other cause to think they need replacing.
I've owned, driven or maintained countless solid axle trucks from 70s-80s models on up and almost every one you could put a bar under the wheel and feel noticable slop in the ball jts.
I'd say there's about a 99% chance they are just fine. Get a second opinion.
