I had no fan at all in my bathroom vent. I spliced into a nearby light. I don't remember the wires having plugs, I think they had wire nuts. It's only 12v so you can use plugs/splices from an auto parts store. My vent trim, the only thing I had to remove, had square head screws. The square head drivers are also available at any auto parts store. Total installation time was about 45 minutes and that included snaking a wire to the light.
