New Big Dog on the block

I might trade my old Dodge for this thing.

wow, $75K tow 31,200

that should handle my little Jayco, at least I would look good driving it around,

    2016 Ram 3500 will do 31210 and it's still a class 3 truck unlike the F450 no matter how Ford tries to spin it.

    Pretty sure that article is over a year old but thank you just the same. Makes my 2015 seem like it's still brand new. Unfortunately it is now "old" (LOL) with the 2016 selling and the 2017s right around the corner. Still drives, tows and looks new but alas she's not the new kid on the block or the leader in the overhyped towing/weight war. Guess it's time to trade her in... Not!

    my old dodge is a 2005 model, so anything less than 10 years old is new technology to me.

    I must have picked up the wrong link, got my information all wrong,

    the article was in the February 2016 Popular Mechanics
    article: The truck that is almost as strong as a Dung Beetle
    2016 Ford F-450 Super Duty

    all I know is what the article said, "is the most powerful pickup you can buy"
    page 73 ???????????

    but they may have lied, the companies are always trying to up-man-ship the other brands.

    surely PM would have checked out the numbers before printing

    Go drive a new RAM! Similar capability without the insurance and licensing issues of a class 4 vehicle. Chris

    Maxwell11, I traded an 05 Ram for the 15 450. Night and day experience in towing. The big 3 have come a long ways in 10 years.

    If you are truly in the market drive all 3. You can't go wrong with any of them. I chose the driving experience I liked best. If I did win the Powerball, I'd own all 3 and probably a Sport Chassis too. No Ferraris, just trucks lol.

    Don't fall for the BS being fed you about licensing. It all depends on the state you license it in.

    What an IDDIOT the guy writing that article. "The wheels are especially cool, as they’re 19.5-inches — the same as a semi-truck’s. With the F-450 Super Duty Platinum, Ford is banking on size mattering."

    What is really sad about the 450 is it's 9,100# rear axle weight rating compared to the RAM's 9,750# someone correct me if that is not correct.

    If I towed my MobileSuites with the F450 my rear axle would be over the 9,100# rating at 9,580#.

    The reality is the F450 should be able to handle MUCH more weight than that.

    The F450 and RAM 3500 are both SAE J2807 rated to do what they claim unlike the F350.

    Fact is the RAM is a 4500 in 3500 clothing.

    Wow, some guys sure get their knickers in a knot quick and easy.. :h

    So Ford offers a 450/4500 (tagged) model with a factory installed conventional pickup box.
    Some folks tale advantage of that choice.
    Why all the hate?

    This thread is 9 posts long and already 3 Ram guys have went negative.

    cdlaine ... posted a similar type story about a Ram truck and its 21 posts long and no Ford guys or anyone else (mayby one Gm guy) have come on to turn things negative.

    Are you Ram guys that insecure for gosh sakes..;)
