the table in my bounder was too wide for comfort but instead of cutting down the original table, I wanted to keep it as was for resale, and made my own table top out of a piece of oak finished plywood with solid oak boards on the edge. as I recall, a 2 x 4 ft piece of ply worked out just fine.
