great job, I also have a 86FB and find that space under the sink pretty annoying. would you mind posting the angle you used to cut the wood for the box next to the bed...thks
I was hoping another Adventurer owner would find this and might put it to use. Unless you have this model you don't appreciate how annoying the space under the sink is. But, I bet I added a 1/3 more space to the area with these simple changes.
I used a sliding T-bevel to get the angle and then transferred it to my sliding miter saw. A cheap $5 dollar sliding T-bevel does the job really well. Based on my expensive Starret angle finder(which I didn't use!!), it looks like the angle is 29 degrees.
Mello Mike-The disturbing part was not doing the mods as much as taking a saw and cutting off panels & a table to a brand new camper or totally removing built-ins and hoping they wouldn't look like somebody "remodeled".
Freelanceing-I don't have a front window. I think the area you are referring to is suppose to be a decorative headboard for the bed. I think you have several options. I did something similar to my last camper with the lower pass thru window to the truck. Got rid of the curtain and made a wooden panel to fit in it's place. A fabric insulating pattern with snaps or velcro to hold it in place would work too.
Bumpy-I thought about resale value a lot before cutting off the table. I almost just made a new table for that very reason ( I found the OEM laminate is Formica Glow Maple for the top & edging) but at the end of the day we think that more people will actually prefer this. It's another one of those, you have to be in the camper to appreciate how confining the original table felt in the aisle and how much cutting off 2 3/8 changed it for the better. You walk in to the camper now and it "feels right".
