I Change the oil and the fuel filter when the DIC (driver info center) indicates that they are in the 25% area. I usually end up with apx 7000 miles on the oil and apx 14000 - 16000 on the fuel filter.
Read your GM warranty info on the Duramax Diesel and the Allison Transmission and stay within their guide lines and you will be fine.
