Since many F150 buyers want all the fancy bling, like the Lariat or Platinum levels, you sacrifice payload.
Very few are interested in towing a 5th wheel. They're more interested in the luxuries as a daily driver. They don't know how important payload is.
If you want payload capacities of 2000lbs+, it's available with the HDPP. But you'll have to order it.
F150s with the HDPP aren't big sellers for Ford. That's why you don't find them on dealers' lots.
I couldn't find a used one so I settled for a XLT with the Max Tow package. My payload is 1830lbs, which is the best I could find.
