The weight only makes a big difference when you are in situations requiring brakes like stop and go traffic or going down steep hills. I generally pull an equipment trailer that is pushing 12,000lbs but once I get it rolling I mostly notice the air drag. I recently pulled an empty single axle box trailer on the interstate and it was like dragging a parachute. It hurt my highway mileage nearly as much as the equipment trailer. In stop and go traffic I could barely feel it.
