Now the F450 vs F350 is an interesting question. From my understanding the difference is the 450 has bigger brakes, 19" wheels, heavier axles, the 4.3 gears, wider track front end for easier turning, and a few other things. The bigger brakes and easier turning appeal to me. The rougher ride and more expensive 19" tires do not. Tough call, but I still remember my 1997 Chevy Tahoe with the crappy undersized GM brakes. I literally ended up in the middle of the intersection multiple times when attempting to stop from no more than 45 mph. That bloody thing was so under-braked it was a hazard on the road. My wife drove that thing once and she swore she'd never ride in it again.
The ride in my F450 is really good empty. Even better loaded. Yes, it has the G rated 19.5" tires but to meet the FAWR and RAWR, it calls for 80 psi in the rear tires and 90 psi in the fronts. I run about 5-10 psi over that and it rides rather nice; especially for a dually.
I just love the look of the 450 better than the 350. Yes, its just a few minor things but the bigger wheels and the wider front end make the truck look beefier. Yes, that's just my vanity but I like it.
If Ford would make an F450 with a 3.55 or 3.73, I would gladly take the lesser tow rating.
Driving today unloaded, it was turning 2500 rpm's at 80 mph. It turns around 2200 rpm's around 70mph. That's not terrible.
