The improved shift strategy comes from tow haul mode. You refuse to talk about how that works with ya with 4 10's
Like it was said its your truck. throw all the money at it you want..
The people here are stating what they, as myself are, because we know you will not see performance that they advertise. heck 10-15 hp is the same as turning your air condition off. Putting hi test in will net you similar power.
What we are saying is you went from 3 23 rear to 4 10. If you dont see higher RPM and pulling power with that alone then your chasing a ghost.
Making more HP with built motors as you posted below is a good thing but dont overlook what you may do to the trans. Line pressure drops 100 psi or so when the TC locks. Thats not good for higher HP motors. Especially the 4l60E.
Im an old wrencher from back in the day and im all for advancing the timing. Running hi test we would turn the dist to advance just till the car started pinging under WOT.. Then we re-tard a hair and were good to go.
But we were kids back then and in 1988 my silverado had a 350 @ 120 HP
IDK let us know how it turns out. I just dont think those tuners are worth 400 bucks.
As well as the cold air intakes.
It looks cool is all and it sells.. Its a marketing thing..
I'm not getting my information from advertisers. Ask questions before assuming you know all the details. I'm getting my information from guys that have applied the tunes and are very happy with numbers and performance they're seeing. If I get 1HP and I can tell the difference, I'll be happy. Just so you know, a Chevy dealer wants the same amount to fix the speedo error so why pay them to update their generic tune when I can accomplish alleviating the problem and improving performance?
I had a brand new 1986 Chevy K20 with a 350 and a 4.10 gear. It was the most gutless truck I have ever owned. It would barely pull my 1987 Wilderness 23.5' fifth wheel out of the Ozark hills and, at one point, I had to put the tranny in low and I was running 10 mph up a long grade. I was afraid I was going to have to back down the hill that was winding through timber so no way to see what was coming behind me.
When I was a kid, I had a 1969 Dodge Super Bee with a 383 Magnum making 375HP. That's where I come from and where I like to be.
I don't refuse to talk about tow/haul mode with my 4.10 gears because I can't tow anything until the gears are broken in at 500 miles.
The transmission is a concern but keeping the RPM's up will help to keep the line pressure up. That's the only part that I'm unsure of because I don't know if it has 206k miles on it or if it was replaced at some point. I've only had the truck 5 years and have replaced just about everything else, including the motor. I have my fingers crossed. If it fails, I'll probably look at something beefier than the 4l60e. I paid $2400 to have one rebuilt on a Jeep Grand Cherokee a couple of years ago and I can buy a brand new one cheaper.
Once I get it on the dyno, I'll be able to come back with some numbers for you guys. According to GM, my truck was rated at 295HP and 335 ft. lbs. of torque.
