- 1stgenfarmboyExplorerWe got 1/2 inch of ice and 2 inches of sleet and snow on top, the wifes 2014 2wd Ram done just fine, I was a little conserned with her comming from driving 2 Subaru Outback's for the last 10 yrs.
I know it will be a different story with 8-14 inches of snow, I will need to put some weight in the back and airdown the rear tires a little.
then again I always have my 4x4 W350 Dodge we can drive. - Range_Maggot_BoExplorer

That wet grass thing just kills me. I have never been stuck on wet grass, and my TT is parked on grass down a hill.
I have. Ranger P/U, street tires, RWD with a open diff, empty bed. Truck would not go forward on grass damp from the early morning dew. I had to back down the slight incline, which was a problem as a vehicle was parked behind me. Two friends hopping up in the bed would have solved it, but everyone was asleep. That was when I promised myself all future SUV/trucks would be 4wd.
I don't need it, but I want it. Kinda like my RV. - fj12ryderExplorer IIIDuh, just now notice that? Should have figured that out from the identity of the OP. :)

He could go "anywhere you can take that expensive 4x4" with his 2 wheeler......love ya dad!
What's weird is I remember hooking his truck up a couple times at least, out cutting firewood, to my unnecessary 4x4 to get out of a field.
I remember on the farm we used our unnecessary Case tractor to haul 4WD trucks out of the spring prairie gumbo. ;) - mowermechExplorer

Well, OK. I grew up in Northwestern Montana, in Hungry Horse. My step father was a faller in the woods. He drove a 1950 Plymouth station wagon to work, spent all week in a logging camp, then drove home for the weekend, after loading the back of the wagon full of firewood. After I joined the Navy, he finally got a Chevy pickup. A 1956 standard cab long box 4X2. Very few people back then had four wheel drives. Not many had limited slip or locking differentials, either.
In my last year of high school, I drove a 1941 Chevy coupe.
Finally, in about 1975, I got my first 4X4: A 1960 Chevy K10. Just as today, I seldom put it in four wheel drive.
Yes, I now own a 4X4. Mainly because the truck I wanted was sitting on a 4X4 chassis. I would have been quite happy with a 4X2 with limited slip differential.
My snowplow ATV is 4X4. The last time I used it, I got it high centered on a snow drift, and had to use the truck to pull it out. When all four wheels are hanging in the air, the tire chains/locked rear axle/locked front axle, and four wheel drive is completely useless! - LVJJJExplorer

There is also a part of Washington that is land locked by British Columbia. The only way to reach it to drive into Canada or by boat.

I live in Blaine which is right on the border. To get to Pt. Bob and back by car you have to go thru 4 border crossings. With all the terrorists driving thru there it can take an hour or more at each crossing while they ask why I'm going there. There is never a good reason to go to Point Roberts.
Vancouver Island (Canada) stretches about 50 south of the main border at Blaine, so you do have to go south to go to Victoria. - burningmanExplorer IISure, you can make do with two wheel drive. No one said you can’t.
It’s just a huge disadvantage, especially in a vehicle that often has most of its weight on the unpowered (front) wheels.
I don’t know about you guys but I learned my first lesson about powering the end with the least weight while trying to ride my Big Wheel uphill.
I didn’t NEED a three wheel drive Big Wheel. I just couldn’t ride up that hill. - Grit_dogNavigator IIAll you geezers make me think of my dear old dad, rest his soul.
