A 2WD truck with an open rear is a 1 wheel drive.
A 2WD truck with a "posi" rear and a gas engine is better than a 2WD truck with a "posi" rear and a diesel engine in certain low traction situations. The diesel's torque breaks the rear tires loose almost instantly with a good load on.
A 4WD truck with an open rear is a 2WD.
Supercharged is a blessing to this forum. People get too serious around here sometimes.
X 2. You're right Bucky.
Actually it is FALSE. Go back to school. GM has some good videos to watch on UTube. - crosscheckExplorer II

Resale on 2x4's is next to nothing. I can understand it from reading other
campers on here and my own experience. If your going to stick with it pay
the extra for the 4x4 and avoid your wife yelling things like stupid. I saw
a guy tear up a campground site trying to get out after a storm, he had to pay
for the damages when his truck slide over and hit the plumbing and electric.
Umm.. DUH.. 4x2s COST A LOT LESS to buy when new.
Nearly $4K less not including any other extra required options which tend to push that to $5K-$6K less cost than 4x4.
When resale time comes I highly doubt a 4x4 is going to sell for $5K-$6K more than a 4x2..
Kind of like Diesel vs gas, of course a Diesel truck is going to sell for a bit more than gas and the reason is that a Diesel engine costs more up front.
Sure, the market for folks who might be in the market for 4x2 is smaller now days, but none the less, used 4x2s being cheaper can get one into a pickup truck that may not afford the asking price for a used, beat up 4x4 of the same age and mileage.
If you "want" 4x4, buy it, if you NEED 4x4, buy it.. If you simply need a pickup truck without all the bells and whistles, don't need or want 4x4 and have a small budget, buy a 4x2..
Dealer lots are full of 4x4s for a reason and it is not because "everyone" wants one, it is because the dealer makes a much, much larger PROFIT MARKUP on the 4x4..
I have a trailer that has A/C. Never use it. Don't want it. Came with the unit. My truck has 4x4. Use it all the time, winter and summer. So looking at your last statement, substitute A/C for 4x4 and you get, " Dealer lots are full of A/C units for a reason and it is not because "everyone" wants one, it is because the dealer makes a much, much larger PROFIT MARKUP on the A/C."
Try selling a non A/C unit to a family from Pa who camps in the summer at 95F and 95% humidity. Tell them that most families don't need/want A/C in an RV and your resale value will be better without A/C. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

- FlashmanExplorer IIWould not own a truck without 4x4. Then I live in Az and go off road with and with out the camper. Just yesterday I had to engage 4x4 to get trough a sandy patch pulling a trailer with my RZR on it.

At every camp ground there is some guy with his 4x4 with ex. large tires, Harley sticker on back widow, fat kids and a tow rope. Why get a 4x4? - travelnmanExplorerResale on 2x4's is next to nothing. I can understand it from reading other

All 4 tires on one axle, hence poor mans 4 wheel drive. Chuck, read my original post. Its a 2 wheel drive 1996 C3500 dually with a 454 big block, 40 hp chip and 3 inch full duals with glasspacks. Stored winters with only 85,000 miles. You guys are right, when empty you need to be lite on the loud pedal. By the way, 6 1/2 mpg on a good day when loaded, truck golf cart and 37 ft. TT. This is a fun post, lots of laugh's. I might be 70 years old, but am still a hot rodder at heart.

Most people who have a 4x4 went into the dealer and set up in the high red truck and nearly wet his pants. The salemen took him out and turned him up side down and bouned his head on the floor until his credit cards fell out and hit the floor. He took a look and said this old boy is going to get a 4x4, heated seats, side steps, leather, 22 in. wheeles. Off he goes to the job showing every body look at what I bought. And I only paid 1800 over high book.
Howdy Supercharged!!!
See you are in your usual good form...........:B
