I think this is more of a fun thread than trolling.
I have a 4X4 and I got stuck last week while cutting firewood. It has a locking rear axle but I didn't bother to read the manual about how to engage it. I doubt if it would've helped me out anyway. I called my wife to come pick me up and I waited a couple days until the ground froze and it walked right out.
Actually, you SHOULD have engaged the locking rear axle!
Might have made the difference between getting out in the vehicle or walking.
Those things are the bomb!
My 2013 F250 is the first vehicle I have owned with Electronic locking axle.. All others were either open diff or posi diff.. The locker can make a difference between spinning your way out or not losing traction.
Although one does need to be careful when spinning BOTH rear wheels, you might go sideways or dig a bigger holes on both sides until you are up to the frame if not careful.. - I had to add 4x4 to contain the power of my add-on supercharger....

A 2WD truck with an open rear is a 1 wheel drive.
A 2WD truck with a "posi" rear and a gas engine is better than a 2WD truck with a "posi" rear and a diesel engine in certain low traction situations. The diesel's torque breaks the rear tires loose almost instantly with a good load on.
A 4WD truck with an open rear is a 2WD.
Supercharged is a blessing to this forum. People get too serious around here sometimes.
X 2. You're right Bucky. - AtleeExplorer IISpeak for yourself.
Do I need 4x4 a lot? Of course not. There have been a few times I had to have 4x4 to move my trailer.
By the way, my truck doesn't have an e-locker in the rear. Mine has the old mechanical posi-traction type rear axle.
By the way, are you just trolling with your post?Supercharged wrote:
Got wife 2018 GMC 1500. No one but famers, ranchers, ult. company, cops, logers, and people up in Canada need 4x4, just something saleman sell people who have good credit anyway. Waist of money. - buckyExplorer IIA 2WD truck with an open rear is a 1 wheel drive.

Yeah, but I notice you're from that up north place - Canada!
you missed good breaks.and this thread is beyond stupid.your opinion on what i choose to drive is irrelevant to me and i hope you get hopelessly stuck and the tow bill is enormous.
But that part of Canada is southwestern BC and is in the Vancouver area...which is as you say rightly, part of Canada. But they don't have the bitter, cold, snowy winters there, that compare with many parts of the Canadian prairies for example. Southwestern BC is generally very mild, very little snow...a pleasant climate compared to many other areas of Canada. Not ice road truckers type of Canada, where you need all the traction you can get.:B - bigorangeExplorerOh yeah sometimes I use 4x4 under my tongue jack or stabilizers.

Awesome that your truck has homing instincts. - bigorangeExplorerI have a waist of money. All the food I buy goes right there.
