Hey all. I have a 6x2 one ton 4 door dually with posi diff. Does this count as a 4 wheel drive? Ha Ha. All 4 tires on the same axle. Pour man's 4 wheel drive.
Dual wheels are usually counted as singles for the purposes of determining whether a vehicle is a 4X2, 4X4, or 6X6.
A military truck with 3 driving axles, and dual tires on the rear two axles is a 6X6, not a 10X10.
so, my old 1994 Dodge Ram CTD one ton dually was a 4X2; 4 wheels on the ground, but only 2 of them capable of being powered. - Dairyman_JohnExplorerEnjoyed all the bickering on this thread.
- campiglooExplorerIt was explained to me that 4wd is only good for getting stuck farther back in the woods.
I like mine anyway. - crosscheckExplorer III recall a similar thread a few years ago, possibly by Supercharger ,where a lot of members waded in. I replied that when you have a 1300', 16% driveway, even in the summer, to keep the washboard to a minimum, 4x4 was required.
Winter is another story with an empty 1 ton, even with constant snowplowing.
Supercharger, has had some heart issues in the past so indulge him. Give him some good/funny replies to make his day.

I know that when the golf cart is out of the truck bed and the TT is unhooked, if I stand on it, it leaves about 40 feet of 4 black marks. All the tires spin. 6x4 or 6x3?
you can NOT have a locked front axle .. on pavement.
and really not want locked rear axle on pavement.
and spinning all 4 tires just proves you have near zero traction... NOT that equal power to all for tires..

you missed good breaks.and this thread is beyond stupid.your opinion on what i choose to drive is irrelevant to me and i hope you get hopelessly stuck and the tow bill is enormous.
This is the first thread that gave me a good laugh for a looooong time. Supercharged wrote:
Depending on the day I might be any of those professions. More often just an off-road hobbyist.
No one but famers, ranchers, ult. company, cops, logers, and people up in Canada need 4x4, just something saleman sell people who have good credit anyway. Waist of money.- bcbouyExploreryou missed good breaks.and this thread is beyond stupid.your opinion on what i choose to drive is irrelevant to me and i hope you get hopelessly stuck and the tow bill is enormous.
- downtheroadExplorerNow we have more fun with English grammar: "waist of money," and,
off rode." - GdetrailerExplorer IIIMust say, this has been an entertaining thread :)
Seems like the must have 4x4 groups need to convert to "tracks"..
Like a few ATV/UTVs have.
Been driving rear wheel drive 4x2 vehicles all my life in the snowy north eastern US, only can recall twice that I though 4x4 would be nice to have..
