New guy looking at f150 5.4 and 5.0
I haven't bought a trailer yet but looking in the 6500-7500 GVW . As far as a tow vehicle I was looking at either a 2010 f150 5.4 w/ 3.73 rear and max trailer package. Or a 2011 and up f150 with 5.0 ...

Problem is the 6sp with the 5.4 sucks. So it's either the 5.0 or 3.5 with the better 2011 6sp. I liked the TQ in my 5.4 but the tranny made it irritating to drive. Part of the problem I guess is the 5.4 is underpowered @310hp-365tq and when towing 7000+lbs it really works the 5.4. Had I been able to select 5th or even 4th it would've been nicer. It's pretty sad when your on a completely flat stretch of interstate and your tranny shifts 3-4 times going over an overpass.
And I usually towed around 60-63mph on the interstate.
