New Guy, Wanting to Make Purchase

Hello All,

New to the forum (first post) and would like to introduce myself and get some advice. My name's Dave, I have been in the USMC for about 10 years now and am currently stationed in SoCal though I'm originally from the PNW. I'm going on recruiting duty at the end of the year and will be back in the PNW.
I want to purchase a travel trailer and am desperately in need of advice as this will be my first one. I'm married with two little boys and two big dogs so I'm thinking I want something that's a minimum of 25ft. Primary use will be weekend camping with the family and using it as base camp during elk season. My tow rig's a 2010 4x4 Ram DRW with the big C so weight's not a problem. My requirements are: Sleeps 8 min., central air/heat, large water capacity so I don't necessarily have to rely on hookups for an extended weekend, prefer built in generator, and needs to be a bumper pull as I'd like to keep the bed free for ATV's and such. Last but not least, trying to stay under $25K purchase price.
With that being said, anyone have any recommendations on brands, futures, etc. that they have personal experience with? Also, any general buyers tips that anyone can offer? Thanks in advance to everyone!

  • You may want to look at toy haulers with two beds in the garage area we have a Dutchmen Rubicon 2900......we like it even with all the issues we are having with it. It is a very comfortable layout!

Oh and by the way - THANK YOU FOR SERVING IN THE USMC - your job makes our country safe, so that we may enjoy camping as we do!
  • built in generator and under 25 K isn't happening.

I would hit an RV show or a sales lot and walk in some TT's
