Well I can only suggest some of what others have also, and offer some of my own experiences.
We tow a 2005 Keystone Sprinter Copper Canyon 293 FWSLS. This is a 32' 12,320# GVWR 5th wheel. We started out towing with a 2001 Ram 2500, LB, 4X4, CTD, then four years ago replace it with a 2016 Ram 3500, LB DRW, 4X4,CTD and this tows level.
How did we get there?
The 5er came with LT235/85-16E tires, to that we added the Correct Trac to add 2" of lift at the wheels, I will say we run about 5-1/2" of rail clearance, which has been working for us. We Park Host and we have one site we go to every year which requires about a 120 degree turn, on to a steep 10% grade driveway, and don't touch.
Your 5er is short (27') which will make any difference front to rear more extreme. You mention that you have 23" to 24" to the frame, I don't have that measurement, but are about 32" to the floor at the door.
Here are a couple pictures of our 5er connected to both trucks, I did forget to mention our pin runs about 2,700# to 2,800#.
