I had the same problem but found some lube on the stinger wedge helped a lot. I used the dustless lube like for a slide out. As for lifting it up to unhook, I've found that if I put a finger under the trailer tongue where it connects to the ball I can feel it raise just a little when pressure is off the stinger.
