Surprised me as well... my truck gets 22 on the highway at 70-75 mph. I think that is amazing. Overall I am getting about 17-18 mpgs, which is great considering most of my driving is local driving, red lights and stop signs every 20 feet...
I am very pleased with the fuel economy on this enormous truck and massive engine. It does make me wonder if a smaller diesel that didn't weigh as much and didn't produce as much power would get better mileage. I certainly don't need all the HP and torque that my diesel affords me, I just needed the payload from an HD truck.
