New RAM HD - "one up" continued

It appears as though Ram is going to leap back to the front of the tow rating wars...if this ad is to be believed.

"The most capable HD pickup ever"

  • Sorry, but 450 HP doesn’t qualify as “big horsepower”. It would simply make it class competitive with Ford and GM.

Personally I’m more interested in the additional technology that they can employ. Things like adaptive cruise and lane assist are missing from their HD line. That is more likely to make me consider upgrading than anything else.

Any bets on the HD transmission?

You think the '19s are getting the new after treatment and trans?
Hope so, but I've been under the impression it was just interior and front clip change this year.
  • I dont think they will be able to get to 450 hp with the CP3. They would have to pump out higher pressures than what the CP3 is capable of to reach that amount of horsepower and still be within emissions. The CP3 can easily out pump the CP4 in volume creating more horsepower, it just can't do it and still be emissions legal.

  • They will removing all engine emissions and it will all be under the truck. Same 6.7 engine with a few upgrades. Big HP and TQ numbers will be coming. I will say over 1,000 TQ and around 450 HP.

I just hope the HD looks better than what I have seen. I was planning to buy one. So far my 15 is staying around for a while longer.
