Oh gee - im the guine pig, the new guy.. just kidding. I don't know the specifics of the Frigidaire 8k but when I hear or see 700 watts that I gotta think it will run it and even if the compressor kicks it up to max for a min I wonder if I should try it and just set it to non economy mode for the power spike. Then I wonder how much I will need AC in the rockies. Im stumped but all the help and advice is greatly appreciated. Champion sounds great but the 100 pound plus weight doesn't sound to fun.
That is possibly the nice part about being able to run two inverter gens in parallel. Honda, Yamaha and Champion all have that capability with the correct 2000W models. Yes, it sucks having to buy and lug around two gens but that can also be a convenience. I believe the 2000W Champion only weighs ~46 lbs. You could always buy one, see if it works for your needs at altitude and then buy another and the parallel kit if the single unit doesn't work. If you ended up with two, you would only need to lift one 46lb gen at a time.
But you're right, how much does one need AC at 9000+ feet in the summer? I know in certain areas it could get warm enough inside the TT during the day but those days would be infrequent.
