Yet again: You name the amount, you name the odds. I am one hundred percent certain my truck was built in Toledo, Ohio. (I also have circumstantial evidence that it was built on a factory's second-or even third-line, that being a very high last 6 digits of the VIN.)

John do yourself a favor and learn how to read and then read the links provided. Oh BTW I called the head of the skilled trades at Jeep, who BTW has worked at Jeep for 38 years. He told me to take the bet and ask how much cash you can lay your hands on. He wants some of this also. Me I'll just let you think you know what your talking about but do your family a favor and don't take any bets on this!

Not much...but I congratulated OP on his new-to-him truck...as opposed to being rude and making lame attempts to ridicule what he purchased.

Plant History: Warren Truck Assembly Plant has been making trucks since 1938. A total of 6,767,213 trucks were produced from 1938 through 1985. Dodge Dakota was introduced in 1987 and Ram 1500 was introduced in 1993. The second generation Dakota was launched in 1996. The 2002 Ram 1500 was launched in September 2001 with the Quad Cab. The Mitsubishi Raider began production in September 2005 and production of 2009’s most award-winning light-duty pickup truck, the Ram 1500, began in 2008. Production of the Dodge Dakota ended on Aug. 23, 2011, with more than 2,750,000 built at the plant. The 2013 Ram 1500 launched on Sept. 6, 2012, and subsequently won the 2013 Motor Trend Truck of the Year. On Nov. 15, 2012, the Company announced that a third crew of about 1,000 jobs would be added in March 2013. The third crew started on March 4, 2013. LINK

The only Chrysler assembly plants in Toledo, Ohio (have lived in and around Toledo all but ten years of my life) are the Toledo South Assembly Plant or TSAP no longer here and the Toledo North Assembly Plant or TNAP. The only product built in those two plants during the Dodge Dakota era were Jeeps and only Jeeps! The Dodge Nitro the sister to the Jeep Liberty was built at TNAP from 2007 to 2011 when Liberty/Nitro production stopped.

So sorry John your Dakota was built in Warren, Mich. Still a great truck, I loved mine!

Several years ago a friend of mine who has done very well for himself as a package designer moved into a fairly exclusive neighborhood in Cincinnati. Being a car/truck nut I said to him "Wow, there must be some very nice cars in the driveways in your neighborhood" and he quickly corrected me and noted exactly what jerem0621 pointed out-- a lot of very successful people happily drove older vehicles, even if they could easily afford to drive the newest, latest, and greatest.

Anyone else ever notice that you see more high-end cars in apartment complex parking lots than anywhere else?
