New Sneaker's and much needed TLC

Spent the past 6 weekends (plus many week nights) working on the old truck. Scraped and painted the frame/hitch/UCAs... Replace rear torklift tie downs, front caliper and hoses. New England winters do a job under these trucks but I'm glad I did it as she's got many more years of hauling my TC around. Also put new wheels and tires on. Mickey Thompson Sidebiter II 16x8 wheels rated at 3640 and the new BFG KO2 285/75R16E tires which look to be a very good winter option with the snowflake rating. Looking forward to finally having 3 ply sidewalls as my last two sets of tires were only 2 ply. Now onto some TLC for the TC.

  • SWEET!!
Now you need to come visit the non-snow states on the left coast!!
We can go camp in the Redwoods, or out in the Red Rock Country!

I've always wanted to get my TC out west but I'm not a great long distance driver, after 200miles I'm one who could doze off at the wheel which isn't good, can get 300 in if it's all before lunch. Highway mesmerizes me no matter what I do or how much coffee I drink. I've thought of shipping the rig out and flying to meet it but figure I might never come back;) Maybe when my son's finished college I'll move, always wanted to live west of the rockies, I've tent camped all over CO and Utah and cabin camped in Yosemite. Actually save my vacation time for winter trips out west. I'm definitely living on the wrong side of the continental divide:(
  • Instead of coffee try Starbucks green tea. I have the same problem with coffee but their organic green tea is Fireworks by comparison. Healthy for you also

    I'll give it a shot
  • About the falling asleep, I have the same problem. That is the great thing about a TCer. You get up drive a while, stop for some breakfast, drive further stop for a snack and stretch, drive more and have lunch and maybe a nap, and so on. I can do a lot more driving with the camper as stops are so much easier. The other thing I do is stop for gas a couple times a day to add a break again. Don't need the two gas stops but again helps a lot. Then at the end of the day I stop when and where I end up getting tired without pushing for more distance than what I can do.
  • Looks great, prefer the look of the white lettering out on the BFG ATs!
