New stereo?

We have the original Audiovox AM/FM/cassette player in our TT. The opening in the overhead cabinet is 14-5/8" x 4-1/2", which is huge. If we were to replace it with a radio/CD/DVD player, what should we look for? I cannot imagine filling that hole, unless I make some sort of cover plate.

What are good bang for the buck systems?
  • Goto websites like Crutchfield.com and nose around. They sell lots of double din radios that will probably fit. If not big box stores sell 1/4 inck oak plywood in small pieces.
  • Hello MitchF150,
What I want to know is how much are you going to charge me to come and build and stall the stereo system for me?????:):):):) Great Job!!!!!
  • I put in an automotive am/fm that has an aux input. We all just wanted to plug our phones in, we never used the cassette or cd anyway. I also found an underdash mounting box for $12.00. I think it was on ebay, might have been Amazon. The new stereo in the underdash took a small corner of the area previously hidden by the factory stereo. When I took the old stereo out it opened up another cubbyhole for storage.
  • I built a box for a standard car stereo to fill the hole from the original Audiovox POS I had.. :)

Wired it into the original harness and works great! :)
