New to RVs

I just made the leap and purchased a KZ 20RBT HTT. Prior to this the family and I liked to tent camp. It was time to upgrade. I originally went looking at popups due to the tow weight limit on my minivan. I was pleasantly surprised at how light some of these trailers are. I'm sure I will be posting some questions in the future. I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a newbie on board.

  • Minivans rarely have the capability to tow a 4500 pound camper. Not for very long, anyway. My Roo weighs 5000 pounds and I tow with an Expedition since the Explorer struggled too much.

    Whatcha got?

  • Hello, fellow newbie! We were recently tenters ourselves. Our new HTT is almost identical to yours (Travel Star 229TB). We have found it to be more than spacious and very comfortable, as I'm sure you will also find. Stupid newbie things we've done so far: Broke a wheel chock when we forgot to remove it and backed over it, blew a fuse while attempting to run a toaster oven AND space heater at the same time, burned a teensy hole in the tent end when a stray cinder blew onto it (in our defense, it wasn't windy and the campfire was 30 ft away), lost the spare set of keys in the grass (later recovered after lots of swearing and crawling on hands and knees).

Lots of good times are ahead of you and remember to share your screw-ups on here....we all need a good laugh!
  • Welcome to teh forum and good luck with your new trailer. What minvan are you towing this with, as the model you are suggesitng has 4,500 GVWR and a 426 lb tongue weight. I would be interested to know what minvan can handle that weight
