New to the RV world. Help a newbie.

As mentioned good insurance and good locks are your best bet. Also a secure campground.

I could never figure out why someone would want to break into my TT. They would get the world cheapest TV and Microwave, a cheap built in stove and oven and a frig that runs on gas or electric provided you have proper ventilation.

These day they seem to prefer stealing the whole unit for a Meth. lab.

Remember, a thief will even punch out your bathroom skylight and gain access there too if they can't get in any other way. As stated above, if it is obvious you have a beefed up locking system, you are an immediate target.

And then, you have to consider battery theft and your propane tanks on the tongue. And each outside hatch and storage space.

RV's are not secure at all. Locks just keep honest people honest. Determined thieves will get anything. Your best option is a little yappey dog that's absolutely annoying! They make the best alarm systems ever! No one messes with your stuff when you have a dog.

It's a nice park. I just come from the better safe than sorry school of thought. Thanks for all the suggestions.

If'N I was in your shoes, I'd look at having a large metal box made that most of my valuable could be stored in when away, Like taking over a closet and having that as a secure area, in addition, a floor safe/ one bolted under bed for weapons, $$ and smaller things of greater value.
Changing locks is fine for most scumbags. If I had the $$, some of that window film that stops punctures (mostly) would be handy, cost per window bearing out to something reasonable?
Rv's are pretty much beer cans with a toilet, living unconcerned but prepared for bad things to happen...
A hardened storage area under the TT may be another thought?

You're kidding yourself if you think any type of recreational trailer offers anything more than minimal security as a simple screwdriver will easily break through any RV lock mechanism with little effort. And alarms are only good if someone responds. :R Your new trailer, like most, is designed for occasional occupancy during recreational use, not for full time living. :R

Plus a better lock just tells the thief, there is something good inside worth stealing and they do more damage when they break in.

Make sure your insurance is correct and worry less.
