"Driveway Camp" for your first "camping trip". Just plan on an overnight in your driveway. You can run in and out of your house as you figure out what you want and need.
Then your second trip I would suggest a local full hookup campground or state park. Something close by, so again you can run home to get what you forgot.
Try not to buy too much stuff other than "essentials"... we spent our first year or two loading the camper up with stuff, then the next 8 years slowly taking out what we don't need!
