New to TT's

We have had 2 truck campers, 2 5th wheels, and a class C; but never a TT. I'm kicking it around. Sell the Montana and get a medium size TT; less than 10,000GVW and under 35ft. The wife is having trouble with the 5th stairs and I'm having trouble with the height forcing me to use truck stops a lot.
The question is...pulling a say 33ft TT with a longbed 1 ton crewcab SRW truck....how much do I need to focus on weight distribution hitches and sway control. We will travel west and Midwest with winds. Maybe both, but not going to the extreme with a Hensley?? It's not a money thing, but you know, it's always a money thing.
  • You certainly have the truck to handle most anything out there in a TT.
Even with that platform, you will be best served with a WD hitch with sway control. Your truck's receiver is probably only rated for so much tongue weight..a 10K trailer could come in at 1300 lbs of hitch weight.

There are lots of good choices out there....relatively inexpensive and they are not that much of a hassle to use.

    Look at:
Equal-i-zer (good hitch, but really noisy)
    Reece Dual Cam (excellent)
Blue Ox SwayPro (I've had all 3 and this is my favorite)
