Other VIN plate will be on the inside of the frame, between the axles, left side. At least it was on my '90 Prowler.

After a total tear down id be registering as home built. not sure if you can do that down there

Larry, thanks for the info and comparison! I will definitely keep you posted, and I will absolutely share photos of the interior once we get in it. Not going to lie this old girl has not been kept in the best shape. We haven't had a lot of time to look into her on account of the dwindling light in the evenings now, but we expect starting tomorrow we will start getting to know her a bit better. The wooden framing on 3 sides has significant rot/insect damage, but all the metal is solid. This will be an entire tear down and re-mod pending getting everything squared away with the title. Once we start looking at her bones a bit more tomorrow I will share additional photos. :)

On the plus side, we found receipts where she was transported about an hour away from us to a dealer and had maintenance back in 2007. Her last inspection sticker is from 2012. Someone was taking good care of her up until 2012-2013. The VIN number has been recovered under all the enamel paint on the frame but is not turning up any results. DMV said this may be because registration has not been kept up for over the past 2 years, but unless the laws have changed for registrations this shouldn't be the case. More digging to be done on this front.

In the meantime we'll be gutting this weekend and seeing what we have to work with so we know if it's worth the trouble or not.

That looks like a 1981 and I had a model 26Y from that year. It had the same windows, wheels (the old Dexstar rims), and the stove vent, front rock shield, fender skirts, and access doors all look the same as mine. That pic of the 1984 has a different color between the orange strips. If you have any pics of the wall coverings, counter top and interior paneling I could compare those to our 81 to see if they were still factory.

We absolutely are. Virginia DMV doesn't make it an easy process, but we are prepared to go through it once we determine if it is worth the struggle. We located the VIN on the tongue yesterday and scraped off all the paint to read it- YAY! First steps.

Before I would any money into that trailer I would get a title in your name. There may be problem with the title. Find out how to get a title from MVD and go for it. Only after I got the title in my name would I start fixing it up. My .02 cents

Unfortunately, no title. The VIN on the tongue is behind several layers of enamel paint. We're hoping to locate the 2nd stamp somewhere inside.

Artum Snowbird: It is an odd configuration, notice how there is no side window between the doors? This is because the fridge and a closet/storage space sit right there immediately on the LH side as you walk in. It is a 6 person sleeper, but we aren't sure how it all works out yet. There is a Queen in the back, a loft above that, and to the front there is a sofa that butts into the kitchen counter/cabinet and a dinette attached to it with another loft above the sofa. We haven't explored it in great detail yet, as we jumped on the sale Monday night, hubby hauled it home after work and it was getting dark by the time it was settled in. It needs a good cleaning out too, but from what we can tell it is an unusual layout. We may end up gutting it to the bones to come up with a better utilization of space, but this is our first project camper so that may be a bit ambitious to say that at this point! Ha! It will be nice to finally find the VIN and try to get some schematics understood as to the wiring and plumbing to see what we're dealing with. Really appreciate your help.

Your welcome, I had to go to google and put in images and just keep changing the year by one until I got the right room slope. It appears like a rare configuration for sure, perhaps only 22 feet in 1984.
