New Toy
It was a spendy weekend. I finally pulled the trigger on a '15 4wd Ram 2500 crew cab short box CTD. It's a Tradesman so it's pretty basic but it has the options I wanted. The only thing lacking is decent wheels which I'll address down the road. I really debated between 2500 vs 3500 and the 6.4 vs CTD, but ultimately decided this was the best overall fit for my needs when I took everything into consideration.
I can't get over how much these HD trucks have improved over the last few years. I didn't really look much at the GM trucks cause I don't like them as much (they're great, just not my personal taste). But I did a lot of homework on the Super Duty and Ram and really liked both options. I ultimately went with the Ram because I trust the engine a little more and I was able to get a better deal than any of the Ford dealers were willing to make, and the fact that the Ford is due for a major overhaul played a role as well. But both trucks really impressed me in terms of how queitly and powerfully they went down the highway.
I ended up paying just over $39k before TTD, with the sticker right at $51k. I think that's a pretty good discount for a Tradesman, which obviously doesn't have as much margin for profit as the higher trim levels.
I'm looking forward to learning all the particulars on this new truck, and of course getting her out of town and up in the mountains towing and utlizing that 4wd lever. I specifically wanted one with a manual 4wd lever...the knob just didn't seem right to me. :B
