It is just human nature and the difference between voluntarily paying yourself or the obligation of paying someone else that has leverage to make sure you comply. It is no different than those that let that extra 30 to 50+ dollars go to Uncle Sam every week to get a nice noticeably larger check in April.

It sounds like you and I are one the same page here in terms of what we are looking for and what we both currently have, in fact I have the exact same truck and trim level with 108k miles. So obviously I am curious what you end up with. I'll be watching them more closely this fall as well. Still debating trying to buy a 2019 hopefully at a good price vs a 2020 which has more useful tech. Time will tell.

Presuming the old truck is a Duramax or you got the deal of the century going on.
Even still, that’s a great deal on new and trade.
Especially in WA. You’re saving as much sales tax as you could probably get more by selling it private party.
Even if it’s contingent on dealer financing or your credit doesn’t support a great rate.

For the inflated rates you pay for vehicles in Canada they and well afford to let you pay down the interest rate without really talking about it. Chris

Credit unions are typically the best place to compare rates. Truck price gets mixed in with dealer financing making it difficult really know what your rate truly is. Like some have mentioned, negotiating a cash price then talking financing is one way to know.

In Sept 2017 got 1.99% 60 mos for the F350 in my sig from my CU.

Make sure you consider all your costs. For instance: assuming you'd be borrowing $25000 from the dealer at 2% interest over 5 years you'd end up paying $1285 in interest. The dealer might have some fee they charge for setting up a loan as well. On the other hand if you buy the truck with a bank loan at 3% interest you might end up saving $1000 on the purchase price and pay $1860 in interest over 5 years. So if these numbers are close you could end up saving a few hundred dollars borrowing money from the bank at 3% vs getting a 2% loan from the dealership.

Well about 1:00 pm I get an email from the dealer reminding me of the appointment at 3:30 pm to buy the truck, I never made an appointment.

I emailed them back saying their interest rate is too high and that I was in the
2% to 3% range to make a deal. See how bad they want to sell the truck, it has been on their Lot for six months.
