- geekyguruExplorerI bought a new tt about two months ago. I too got ill from the off gassing. Here is what I did. I opened all of the drawers and cupboards. I sealed all of the windows. I put 1 gallon of ammonia in a dish. I ran the heat for 10 hours. Afterwards,I opened up all the windows and used a big fan to suck all the fumes out for 24 hours. Worked like a champ
- goducks10ExplorerNot really sure how many really off gas. Ever been to an RV show? I've been to several and smell was never a concern. They may smell right out off the factory floor, but after sitting on dealer lots the smell should be gone.

Jayco claims to build their RV's to CARB/Proposition 65 standards. Seems that CARB aggressively protects their rules and goes after any manufacturer of anything that claims their product is CARB compliant but isn't.
So who are we to believe???????????:h
Please don't misquote me.
This is MookieKat's statement.
I clearly stated that the website looked suspicious, as if the "Green RV's" were able to buy their certifications.

I feel like I'm suffocating and can't open my eyes - can't take a breath. Horrible. Scary. Our Northtrail has no formaldehyde fumes and we bought it new. I talked to the salesman and the people at HeartLand before buying to make sure.
- GoldstalkerExplorerNew smells better than used hands down. Buy new and just air it out for a few days or spray some Febreze or something not really something to worry about IMHO.

From what I have read and experienced, VOCs off-gas the most when new and the odors either disappear or dwindle, but some never stop off-gassing.
I have now pretty much decided that if I can't tolerate the odor when I am shopping, then I will not be able to buy it. If all else fails, we may have to get an old airstream, gut it out and redo it ourselves with materials that we can tolerate.
Did you get the link for the CampLite Aluminum Trailers (w/ Azdel) I put it in another thread I guess.
