New TT Suggestions

Sold our 30' Keystone Cougar a few months back and now in the market for a new one. Right now we're down to the Jayco Jay Flight 28BHS and the Keystone Cougar 31BHK. Unfortunately I can't find any other models with the options we need. We dry camp a lot and require a big clean water tank, min 60 gal. One of the biggest problems I'm finding in different floor plans is the shower/tub combination. Does anyone actually use the tub in these things? I'm looking for just a shower since those seem to fit taller people. Unfortunately those models are limited. Also need the queen or king bed in the room along with two double beds. My old trailer had just the queen bed, with the table and sofa beds. It was a pain in the butt having to convert those to beds every night and back to normal in the morning. Anyone have opinions on the Keystone and Jayco mentioned above?
  • I find the neo-angle showers have limited elbow room; we had more elbow room when the shower was in the tub although we never used the tub to sit in. We also lost fresh water capacity when we got a trailer with a slide-out. Went from 50 gal to 32 gal. The slide is nice for interior space but there is a trade off. Be careful, some manufacturers include the 6 gal of water in the water heater in their total fresh water spec although you cannot easily use it if the tank is dry. The water in the water heater does add weight but isn't readily available unless you capture it when draining the WH tank.

That's my 2 cents worth. You'll have to decide which floor plans are best for you & yours.
  • Outdoors RVs have 78-80 gal fresh water tank. On the spendy side, but nice. Ours has the tub/shower. Not sure if there is another option.
  • Thanks to you both. Good to know about them adding the water heater to their total capacity. I'll keep an eye out for that. I'll look into the Outdoors RVs now.

You were happy with your tub shower?

We actually haven’t used it yet, but it’s the same type as in our previous trailer which worked well. However, this one seems bigger due to a higher ceiling.

Okay thanks. Going to check out the Cougar 29BHS today with that configuration again, just to see if we can make it work.
  • Have you considered a toy hauler? They tend to have large tanks and the garages often have beds that come down from ceiling.

We used our shower/tub when my children were toddlers and we had full hookups. Now, it is convenient storage of wet/dirty stuff.

I was just going to suggest that. Most of them carry 100-150 gallons of fresh water plus 30 gallons of fuel for toys and/or an on-board genny. They're very well suited to dry camping, and with the drop down bunks in the back plus the master up front they have pretty good sleeping accommodations.
