Thinking about it now, I found a couple of L29 motors kicking around in salvage duallies for between $500 and $700; yard claims they run. If I can adapt a 6L behind it that would make for an awesome combo of power and relative efficiency (possibly better than a stock L31). All that weight, though; like adding a D-Max without the benefits.
See why I love the beast so much? Many, many options available to make it whatever I want. And if it breaks/bends/rots I can always pull the driveline out and find another $3k beater to put it in.
