I took delivery of a 2019 Arctic Fox 811 SB yesterday, such a nice camper!
My boys both love it and so does my wife. I knew this sucker was heavy and am committed to making it work/safe on my SRW F350 but I was surprised at just how heavy mine appears to be.
Scale weights:
Truck with no mods, tailgate on, 1/2 tank of gas, no passengers:
Front Axle: 4720#
Rear Axle: 3180#
Total: 7900#
On the way home from dealer, big wig sway bar, upper and lower stableloads, fast guns, tie downs, bed mat, a few gallons of water in the tank, empty propane tanks, with 2 batteries, full tank of gas, no passengers:
Front Axle: 4780#
Rear Axle: 7500#
Total: 12280#
I'm guessing the 811 weighs 4200# dry which seems higher than other weights I have seen published here. My options:
Thermal windows
Bunk Bed
Oven
3-way fridge
160W Solar Panel
Low-pro 11k A/C
No Generator
No Microwave
With 7500# on my rear axle already I think 19.5" is the best option unfortunately as I would prefer to stick with 18" tire/wheels for both price and choices.
Truck rode well on the way home. Body roll and sway were minimal, I did experience some fore/aft movement that I believe is called "porpoising". It almost felt like a lurch at low speeds and occasionally on the highway it seemed to get in a weird resonance but was easy to manage.
I am exploring suspension upgrades to help mitigate some of the "lurching' effect which I would guess is coming from the rear end being overloaded.
Options:
-Leaf suspension upgrade: Costly, might make ride worse unloaded
-Air bags: Costly, maintenance required
-Sumo Springs/Timbrens: Cheapest option, no maintenance but I question their effectiveness
-Shocks: Could be nice to have if 19.5" wheels go on the truck to help control the added unsprung weight and probably would help damp out the lurching
