new vehicle break in

Hey all. I take delivery on my new 5.0L F150 Saturday. Never owned a new vehicle. How much of what I hear matters and how much is snake oil from a long time ago? I'm thinking that I will drive it normally (some city some highway no extended idling no drag racing ect) for the fist few weeks then chance the oil somewhere around 1000 miles and be done with it. is there anything Im missing? after that oil change it will be every 6 months since I don't go 7500 miles in that time span. opinions?

Agree with Scott, your owners manual will tell you not to tow until reaching X number of miles. My 250 was 1K miles before towing, due mostly to diffy gear break-in.

It won't take your wife long to break it in, you may get to add a few miles too!;)

  • I think you have it pretty much figured out. Also, most recommend no towing for that "break in" period.

    congrats of the new truck.
