2) Budget to replace the tires. They are likely over two years old. Look at the sidewall of the tires. You should see "load range" followed by a letter (C,D etc) make sure that the replacement tires are at least the same letter if not on letter higher. (If C, then consider going up to D.. ) 2)
another Newbie here. Are you saying if the tires are more than 2 years old, they need to be replaced, regardless?
I have had this discussion with my husband. Our used trailer has had the tires "about 5 years" per previous owner. They rarely went out, just to local county parks, so tread looks great. I am worried about deterioration from sitting.
Any advice?
Tires should be inspected before every trip. Tires around 5 years (check DOT date code on tire, not how long you have had them) should be replaced regardless of the wear. I think the purpose of the recommendation of previous poster was to eliminate bad tires from adding to a newbie's anxiety. TT tires are very susceptible to sidewall cracking, tread separation, and rubber valve failure at the 5 year timeframe. Rarely does one wear out an ST tire. The original tires on my old TT had to be replaced at that interval due to sidewall cracks.
