For the placement of the level, I have one of those round levels that cost around $2
I place it on the flat part of the tongue. With that one placement, it shows me how level side to side I am and front to back..
First, I determine side to side. If it's within a full bubble, I unhitch and I use the jack on the low corner. If it's more than a full bubble off, I put a board under both tires (I've got torsion suspension, so putting it under only one tire does absolutely nothing!)
Once I'm unhitched, I level front to back. I like it just a tic high up front, so any rain drips off the back and my head is raised when I'm in bed.
When I tighten my low side jack, one it hits the ground, 2 turns more and it's level and STABILIZED.. ;)
The other jacks, will usually get 1/2 to 1 full turn.
You might be thinking that by my just cranking on one corner, my trailer is all bent out of shape.. Far from it.. It's only 22' from bumper to hitch and it's all aligned according to the door opening without any interference.
Those of you with 30+' rigs, might have to do something different, but that's not my problem.. :)
Open the awning, get a chair and open a beer! Done! :)
