Newbie Seeking Camper ID - Tacoma TRD Offroad Shortbed

Hi all I'm new here. Need help with mounting points and turnbuckle setups.

I just found a hard side camper for my 08' double cab short bed tacoma I will be picking it up in two weeks. How do I go about picking an attachment set up? Looks like torklift is the biggest and best but also most expensive. I'm on a pretty tight budget for the time being but need some help with my camper mounting options. Want to be safe and sturdy without breaking the bank.

Any leads/tips would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
-Josh

PS actually not sure what kind of camper it is I will also need help IDing the camper once I get some pictures to load...

Here is the camper will be going on a 2008, 2WD, 4D Shortbed TRD Off road with 265/75/16 Cooper AT3 tires
  • Certainly would not want to go up hill with that Long Bed Truck Camper on a truck with a mini short bed. The center of gravity looks like it is roughly at the tail lights of the Chevy Colorado in the seller's picture. Probably smart of him not including the front wheels in his Craig's List Photo.

Save your money as Torklift is not going to work on your truck. The rear mounts will be too far aft for safe connecting to your truck camper.

Then, you have the fact about the capacity and tires capability that Bumpyroad very diplomatically stated for you.

  • I seriously doubt that your tacoma is rated to hold that. IIRC my 2016 tacoma is rated for 1200 lbs. an "expensive" 4 wheel TC somebody here recommended fit the bill.
