I towed a 19' trailer that probably weighed in around 5,000-5,250 loaded with my V6 4Runner. It certainly wasn't a rocket but did okay considering. And being in Utah it is basically impossible for me to camp without hitting at least 8,000 ft. at some point in the drive. I ended up changing my TV because we ended up camping much more often than originally expected. If I was in your shoes and planned to camp 4-5 times a year and usually within a few hours drive I would get a dry weight trailer in the 3500 lb range, pack light and make do. If however, you plan on doing this very often or taking long trips I would probably upgrade.
