Newbie trailer owner, question on water pressure pump

I don’t leave my pump on, kellem.

As long as you have water in fresh water tank, the pump can be left on as it only cycles on demand.

I personally as part of standard operating procedure, would turn off pump when trailer is not being occupied.

Pity the poor renters that think it is just like a house!

I'll just add that that's generally true but I've been in a situation a few times where I had a city water connection but I still used my pump. If you're at a park where the water pressure is terrible you can use your fresh water pump and the city water to get nearly unlimited water at full pressure (my 20 gallon tank lasted a full week and wasn't near empty but I had full pressure showers the whole time =)

Just in case you’re not familiar with the sewage side of things......if you have full sewage hookups do not leave the valves open. Keep them closed until tanks are close to full, then drain. Two reasons; you won’t get sewer gas coming back into the trailer, and the tanks need liquid in them to keep the solids soft and moving. No fluid in the tanks and you will get a Pooh and paper pyramid that is hard to flush out.

Where yo need to be careful is that your tenants know when and how to empty the tanks. If they overflow you will have a serious and smelly mess inside.

The pump will run till it builds pressure, then it turns off till the pressure drops, such as opening a faucet. I would leave it off till someone is using it.
