trailer question

not sure where to post this but has to do with towing- Have to tow our golf cart ( about 950lbs)- bought a small open trailer with a 2000lb capacity.  i need to buy new tires for it but the load limit says 750lbs per tire.  Will i be ok with the cart on the trailer?  i realize the weight is distributed between tires and tongue but maybe to be safe will go with stronger tires

  • And yet you don’t post the tire size when asking a tire question.
To the question you did ask, yes you can put a 950 lb load on a 2000lb trailer. And yes 750 lb rated tries are light for a 2k trailer. Or barely the mathematical minimum to achieve a theoretical 2k total load including trailer weight. Actually no…think about it. Getting 500lbs of tongue weight or a 25% tongue load is impossible with any normal practical load.
You should be asking what tires to get.

        Kenda Karrier 145r12, 1220lb rated @65psi, 81lph speed rating.
Been using Karriers for over 10 years now on my trailers. Great quality. Not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Get some.

  • Reality, you're probably fine. The trailer is probably no more than 500 lbs, that plus 950 is 1450. 150-200 HW, and you axel weight is 1250-1300 lbs.
With that said, we have no clue as to what the actual axel weight capacity is. If it is 2000 plus HW< you want to load to 2000 plus 250-400 lbs of HW, then the tires are too light.
