What is the dry weight and GVWR of each TT? Tongue weight is an issue too. What is your cargo limit? Look in door jamb.
1. Coachmen Catalina - dry weight is 4748, GVWR is 7000, hitch weight is 550.
2. Shasta Oasis - dry weight is 4694, GVWR is 7523, , hitch weight is 523.
Both very similar, and well within the specs of my truck, *I think*.
Your tongue weight will vary with actual weight and the manufacturer always uses a rosy figure. 12-14% is normal. I use 13% in calculations so:
1. 617 - 910 TW for Coachman
2. 610 - 978 TW for Shasta
My vote is slides when at all possible. Floor plan matters a lot if there are no slides.
If you don't carry full tanks, you can keep both TT's around 6,000 lbs loaded for a trip which should be manageable but I haven't seen your truck's actual cargo capacity. On TW, remember to add 80-100 lbs for the weight distribution hitch. That's not included in numbers above.
