Our current trailer is the first we've ever owned with a slide and although just a shallow 18" sofa slide it really does open up the interior, especially in a short 19' couple's model. However, we don't long distance travel camp as we used to when I was
far more comfortable owning a non-slide trailer, often being 1000s of miles from home and following some sort of vacation schedule that would have negatively been impacted by any slide failure I couldn't fix myself. To each his / her own, everyone has their reasons for preferring one over the other so there's no way any one of us can determine for the OP what might work best for his particular situation. :R
