OP: Don't let Sound guy scare you. Slides are one of the most reliable parts of a TT. Just about ANYTHING can fail.... But most don't obsess over it. There are MANY more things that are more likely to give you trouble.
FWIW, my slides have been trouble free. Even 2500 miles from home.
