wife and i love the "slide" in our TT. one of the major enjoyments of camping/rv ing is enjoying the outdoors, sitting outside in the fresh air, cooking outside. etc etc. but when its raining or otherwise bad weather its nice to have the extra floor space to not feel "crowded" hanging out in the TT. i also converted our dinette benches to L-shaped, took out dinette table completely basically turning it into a 2nd sofa where the wife likes to kick back and read while im kicked back on couch or recliner watching tv. there are advantages to no slide when it comes to possible problems and maintenance but for us i would not own a TT with out at least one slide. as far as resale value, from what ive seen thats non existent anyway.
