Newbie!!!!!

Hello all,

I just purchased by first TT and will be picking it up in 2 weeks! I purchased a new 24' Passport Elite 238 ML. I did a quick search on the forum and didn't find any threads with that model, so that make me a little nervous! Anyways, I am super excited! I will be pulling it with a 2008 Toyota 4runner Limited with V8 and towing package. I am having a centerline stabilization system put on to help tow easier. Anyways, hope to learn a great deal of info from the forum and hope to create a bunch of great memories with the fam!

Any wise words from all you veterans would be quite appreciated!

Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
If possible, camp in your yard or driveway for a few nights.
Or go to a local campground.
You will learn a lot in a few nights and, you will be at home if you forgot something.
    Enjoy your travels.

  • Lessons learned from our first trip.
    1. 10 mpg is normal gas mileage.
    2. 55 to 60 mph is typical speed.
    3. 250 miles is a days trip.

Congratulations RVing can be a lot of fun and good times.

Those passports are nice trailers, you should be very pleased with your purchase.
As to wise words, just make sure you get a good wd hitch and brake controller and set everything up properly and you'll be good to go. No rocket science here!

Congratulations on your new purchase. That's a nice sized trailer. There is a Keystone owners forum you can visit:

X2, you will recognize some of the same user names as a number of us own Keystone products and participate there as well.
  • Make sure your 4Runner has the frame mounted hitch and not just the standard one that mounts to the x-member. The frame mount can handle a WD hitch, the other won't and risks frame damage.

The T4R is a great vehicle (I've had 2) but the short wheelbase is not ideal and can lead to sway issues. Get a proper hitch with built in sway control like the Equil-i-zer or Reese dual cam at minimum. If you have the rear air suspension you want to turn it off when hitching up until the hitch is adjusted and tensioned, then turn it back on.

You may want to consider upgrading tires too. The stock P rated tires are soft and squishy.

  • welcome, and don't worry about not hearing much about that model, there are so many variations of campers it's actually pretty rare to some across someone with the same model, there's a lot to learn, just cruise the boards for a few months, lol, that's how long i have been here and am still finding new stuff (i lurked a while before i signed up)
