Newer Chevy 2500HD rear diff ratios and engine differences?

The DW is letting me step up to a new truck to replace my aging 2001 2500HD. I know the newer 2500HD now have 6 speed transmissions but does the differential ratios matter that much with the new ...

Nothing available in either truck but a 6 speed automatic. Since about 2007 I think when they dropped the manual.
The diesel gets the 6 speed Allison automatic. The gas gets the 6 speed 6L90E automatic.
