7.3's are very long lasting motors if you maintain them. My 97 has 110 grand on it and other than routine maintenance is trouble free and easy to service / work on. Don't believe the new emissions compliant trucks are easy to work on. Looked under the hood of a friend's 14 F350 and what I saw scared me. A mass of pipes, wires and all sorts of stuff that when gets some age on it looks to me like a disaster in the making.
